What You Need to Know about Brazilian Butt Lift

Brazilian Butt Lift Manhasset

A curvy lower body contour is an attractive goal for many people. However, even those who follow a balanced diet and exercise regimen may not be able to achieve the impressive plump and enhanced buttocks that Brazilian butt lift (BBL) surgery can provide. As you consider BBL, you should be aware of some important factors surrounding this procedure. Board-certified plastic surgeon Arnold S. Breitbart, MD, lists the main items you need to know before pursuing Brazilian butt lift surgery.

Surgery

A BBL is actually not a lift. It is technically an augmentation of the buttocks using excess fat from the patient. It is performed as a two-step procedure, starting with liposuction from a “problem” area of the body that contains unwanted fat, such as the abdomen, back, thighs, or flanks.

After being removed via liposuction, the fat is prepared for a safe transfer. The fat is then injected in strategic locations to enhance the shape and increase the volume of the buttocks and hips.

Recovery

Surgery on the buttocks may require some modifications during your recovery. You should keep the following points in mind regarding recovery from a BBL:

Initial recovery may be shorter than you think: While you should never rush or overextend your body following surgery, you may be interested to know that initial recovery from BBL can last about five days. This simply means after this period of time, and with Dr. Breitbart’s clearance, you may be able to resume some light activities, with participation in normal activities possible after about one to two months. Pain and discomfort immediately following surgery are normal and can be well-managed with pain medicine.

Compression garments: To help with swelling and sensitivity, you will need to wear compression garments for the recommended amount of time.

You will not be able to sit: You will not be able to sit directly on the buttocks for at least several days after surgery, and Dr. Breitbart will provide you with detailed care instructions and restricted positions and activities. You will also need to ensure you do not lie on the buttocks during sleep. When he determines you are ready, Dr. Breitbart may clear you for sitting in modified positions.

Results

A successful BBL results in a beautiful new contour of the buttocks with improved projection and volume. You may notice that your body looks curvier in clothing, which can boost confidence if this was previously an area of insecurity.
