5 Things to Consider Ahead of Butt Augmentation

Butt augmentation is a popular procedure performed most commonly by transferring fat obtained from another body area via liposuction, a procedure called the Brazilian butt lift. These plastic surgeries can help you achieve a fuller, curvy backside that is difficult to reach through exercise alone.

Dr. Arnold Breitbart will discuss the details of butt augmentation during your consultation. In the meantime, here are five things to consider ahead of butt augmentation.

1.    Follow All Pre- and Post-Op Instructions

Depending on your medical history and lifestyle, you may need to make adjustments for your butt augmentation. If you smoke, you will need to quit for several weeks before and after your procedure to allow your body to heal fully. Avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications and certain supplements as they can increase your risk of surgical complications. Make sure you follow the instructions from Dr. Breitbart for a safe procedure and recovery.

2.    Have Help Available for the First 24 Hours

You will need someone to drive you home following your butt augmentation, and they should ideally stay with you for the first 24 hours. You may want them to stick around for longer than this window to help you get to the bathroom, stay hydrated and eat nutritious meals.

3.    You Won’t Be Able to Sit on Your Butt for Several Weeks

Butt augmentation involves a unique recovery. You cannot sit on your butt for a couple weeks after your surgery. Set up a recovery station where you can rest easily on your side or stomach. A couch or bed is perfect for those initial days, but you may need accommodations if you return to work before you’re cleared to sit.

4.    You Will Need to Wear Compression Garments

Recovery from a butt augmentation is typically fast, but you will need to wear a compression garment for at least two-four weeks. If you have a Brazilian butt lift, your garment will cover the areas of liposuction to aid healing and swelling in the body part treated with liposuction. Compression garments help drainage, reduce swelling and increase blood flow.

5.    Have Realistic Expectations for Your Butt Augmentation Results

Realistic expectations are essential for any plastic surgery. To give you a better idea of what Dr. Breitbart can accomplish with your procedure, look at the before and after gallery to view butt augmentation patients with bodies similar to yours. Your new curves may not be the same as the celebrity results often touted in magazines, but you will have a fuller, natural-looking shape that’s proportionate to your frame.
